Magento 2 rental booking: rent items instead of selling them
With the Magento 2 rental booking module from Mironsoft you offer items for rent: customers choose start and end in a calendar, the shop checks availability per unit, calculates the rental price from your tiers and adds the deposit as a separate line. Buffer times, minimum and maximum duration and a rental calendar in the admin keep operations under control. The interface runs on Alpine.js in the Hyvä theme and needs no extra library.
Magento 2 rental booking by date range
The customer picks start and end in the calendar, booked days are blocked and cannot be clicked.
Availability per unit
You set how many units an item has. Once a period is fully booked, it stays blocked.
Tier prices
Price per day, weekly price from seven days, monthly price from 28 days: you define the tiers yourself.
Deposit
A fixed amount or a percentage, a separate line in the cart, shown apart from the rental price.
Buffers and limits
Buffer between two rentals, lead time, minimum and maximum rental duration per item.
Returns at a glance
In the admin you see the rental calendar and return status, reminder emails go out automatically.
Why Magento 2 rental booking beats a plain add-to-cart button
Anyone renting out tools, camera equipment, party supplies or sports gear sells time rather than goods. The same camera can serve many customers one after another, but never two on the same day. Merchants therefore search for Magento 2 rental booking, Magento 2 rental products or a Magento 2 availability calendar. Magento knows only a stock level that falls with a sale, does not rise again on return and does not check periods.
Without matching logic, rental enquiries run through email and phone, bookings sit in spreadsheets and deposits are settled by bank transfer. Magento 2 rental booking turns this into one continuous process in the shop: choose the period, check availability, calculate the price, pay, return.
Magento 2 rental booking: choose the period and check availability
The product page shows a calendar with a date range. The customer clicks start and end, booked days are greyed out. Availability results from the number of units and existing bookings, including a buffer between two rentals for cleaning or inspection. Minimum and maximum duration and a lead time in days prevent nonsensical periods. The server repeats the check at the cart and at checkout.
- Date range in the calendar, booked days blocked
- Buffer, lead time, minimum and maximum duration
- Server-side check at cart and checkout
Rental price and tiers: day, week, month
You set a daily price and add tiers, for example a weekly price from seven days and a monthly price from 28 days. The module picks the cheapest combination for the chosen duration and shows the calculation in the preview. Weekends can be priced separately, holidays and peak seasons through surcharges. Customer groups can have their own rental prices, for example for regular customers.
- Daily price with weekly and monthly tiers
- Weekend, season and holidays as surcharges
- Prices per customer group possible
Deposit, cart and order in Magento 2 rental booking
The deposit appears as a separate line in the cart and on the invoice, apart from the rental price. You set a fixed amount or a percentage. After the return your team marks the rental as returned and triggers the refund of the deposit, in full or in part if there is damage. Which payment methods suit deposits and how contracts should be drafted is for the shop owner to settle with their legal adviser.
- Deposit fixed or in percent, its own line
- Refund in full or in part via credit memo
- Rental period on invoice and in emails
Rental calendar, returns and reminders
In the admin the rental calendar shows all bookings per item and unit. Statuses such as reserved, handed out, returned and overdue help with handover. A reminder email before the return date and an optional late fee keep the process on track. Manual blocks for maintenance or repair take one unit out without affecting the others. A CSV export supplies figures on utilisation.
- Rental calendar per item and unit
- Status from reserved to overdue
- Blocks for maintenance and repair

How this differs from appointment booking
The Mironsoft appointment booking assigns single time slots for services such as consultation or installation. Magento 2 rental booking, in contrast, lets out items over several days, checks availability per unit and handles tier prices and the deposit. It is neither a purchase nor a subscription.
Magento 2 rental booking can be combined with appointments, for example a rental item with a pickup appointment. Everything runs on Alpine.js in the Hyvä theme, without an additional library.
No download, personal setup instead
The rental booking is not listed here as a ready-made download for self-installation. Buying it is a commission: we contact you after the purchase, install the module in your shop and agree on items, price tiers and deposit together with you.
