1. Hardening the Magento Admin Panel: Access, 2FA, IP Allowlisting

   Mar 27, 2025

The Magento backend under the default path /admin is one of the most frequently automated scanning targets of every store on the internet. With a custom admin path, mandatory Two-Factor Authentication, consistent IP allowlisting at the webserver level, short session timeouts, and a regular account and role audit, you close the most common entry points before automated attacks and credential stuffing attempts ever get a chance.

2. Implementing Cookie Consent Cleanly, Technically

   Mar 25, 2025

A cookie banner that lets tracking scripts keep running while the user has not yet consented satisfies neither ePrivacy nor GDPR nor TTDSG. This article shows how opt-in consent works granularly per purpose, how scripts get technically blocked until consent is given, how Google Consent Mode v2 and CMP platforms are correctly integrated, and how to actually verify your own implementation in the network tab.

3. Secrets Management: Keeping Credentials Out of Code

   Mar 16, 2025

Storing database passwords or API keys directly in code creates a risk that persists even after deletion, because Git keeps every version permanently. This article shows how Magento teams keep credentials out of code, using env.php patterns, environment variables, dedicated secrets managers like Vault, consistent rotation and automated leak scanning.

4. Server Hardening Fundamentals for Production Systems

   Mar 12, 2025

A Magento production server is only as secure as its least hardened service. This article shows, hands-on, how to systematically shrink the attack surface by disabling unneeded services, automating security updates, enforcing non-root execution, correcting file permissions, running fail2ban, and hardening SSH, with a direct tie-in to the Mark Shust docker-magento setup and typical Debian or Ubuntu production environments.

5. Security Code Review: What Reviewers Should Actually Look For

   Mar 1, 2025

Security reviews rarely fail because of missing knowledge, they fail because of missing routine in day to day pull request practice. This article delivers a concrete checklist for input validation, authorization checks and output encoding, exposes common blind spots in internal and admin only code paths, and explains how manual review and automated tooling complement each other so vulnerabilities surface before the merge, not after the incident.

6. TLS/SSL Best Practices: Certificates, Ciphers, Configuration

   Feb 6, 2025

A correctly configured TLS stack determines whether customer data, payment information, and sessions in a Magento store are actually protected or only appear to be. This article explains how the TLS handshake works, why outdated protocol versions and weak cipher suites are a real risk, how certificate chains are validated correctly, and how Let's Encrypt, HSTS, and hardened server configurations fit together.

7. Preventing and Cleaning Up Git Secret Leaks

   Jan 25, 2025

A secret that has ever been committed stays reachable in git history even after the file gets deleted. This article explains why that is, how pre-commit hooks and CI scanners stop leaks before they happen, and which order matters after a real incident: rotate the credential first, then clean up the history.

8. Input Validation Strategies: Allowlisting Instead of Blocklisting

   Jan 24, 2025

Anyone who checks user input only against known attack patterns inevitably misses the next variant. This article explains why allowlist validation beats every blocklist, how to correctly use PHP's filter_var function, which pitfalls Magento's form validation holds, and why validation and sanitization are strictly separate tasks with different goals.

9. Clickjacking Protection: Frame-Busting and CSP frame-ancestors

   Jan 5, 2025

Clickjacking tricks users with an invisible iframe layered over a real page, making them unknowingly trigger critical actions like deleting an account or confirming a transfer. Classic JavaScript frame-busting can be bypassed, while X-Frame-Options and the CSP directive frame-ancestors work as HTTP headers that reliably stop a page from being framed at all.

10. Supply Chain Security: The Attack Through Dependencies

    Jan 1, 2025

Every Composer and npm dependency is a silent trust contract with someone else's code. Typosquatting packages, hijacked maintainer accounts, and malicious install scripts inject attacks straight into build pipelines. This article covers real attack patterns and concrete countermeasures for PHP and Magento projects.
