1. Implementing Multi-Factor Authentication Technically

   Sep 22, 2025

A single stolen admin password today is enough to cause total damage in a Magento backend. This article shows how TOTP per RFC 6238, hashed backup codes, and phishing resistant WebAuthn/FIDO2 are implemented correctly at the technical level, and how Magento's native Two-Factor Auth module can be enforced for every admin user to close this gap.

2. Implementing Secure Session Management

   Sep 13, 2025

An insecurely implemented session is the most direct route to account takeover, no matter how strong the login itself is protected. This article explains how session ID regeneration, cookie flags, timeout strategies and secure session storage work together, and how Magento structurally separates frontend and admin sessions from one another.

3. Using and Interpreting the Magento Security Scan Tool Correctly

   Aug 26, 2025

The free Magento Security Scan Tool automatically checks publicly reachable stores for known vulnerabilities, risky file permissions, and accidentally exposed sensitive files such as .git or .env files. This article shows how to register a store correctly, set up recurring scans, prioritize findings properly, and understand why the tool never replaces a real penetration test.

4. Secure File Uploads: Validation, Storage, Preventing Execution

   Aug 24, 2025

Upload forms rank among the most dangerous entry points in web applications, because attackers craft files specifically to pass every superficial check. Relying solely on file extension and content type opens the door to web shells and executable code. This article shows how magic byte validation, secure storage outside the webroot, filename sanitization, and image re-encoding build genuine protection.

5. Building Security Awareness in the Team Instead of Just Buying Tools

   Aug 23, 2025

Firewalls, scanners and SIEM systems alone do not prevent security incidents when staff click phishing emails or hand over credentials carelessly, because people remain the most exploited attack vector. This article shows how teams build a real security culture: through hands-on onboarding, short recurring training, fair phishing simulations and a blame-free reporting culture that surfaces incidents early instead of hiding them.

6. SAST and DAST Tools Compared

   Aug 17, 2025

Teams that build Magento applications without systematic security testing rely on luck instead of tools that reliably surface vulnerabilities. Static analysis with PHPStan and Psalm catches dangerous data flows directly in the source code, while dynamic scanners like OWASP ZAP run real attacks against a running staging environment. This article shows how both approaches work together, where their limits lie, and when each investment pays off.

7. Managing Environment Variables Securely

   Jul 21, 2025

Environment variables separate configuration from code, but the same mechanism that makes secrets flexible also makes them exposed. Reachable phpinfo() calls, credentials baked into Docker images, and unprotected env.php files rank among the most common causes of data leaks in PHP and Magento projects. This article shows concrete countermeasures for Docker, CI/CD, and Magento.

8. Setting Up Security Logging and Monitoring Correctly

   Jul 18, 2025

Discovering a breach weeks after it happened means the decisive advantage is already gone. This article explains which security-relevant events actually need to be logged, how sensitive data like passwords and tokens stays protected while doing so, how central log aggregation makes anomalies visible, and how alert thresholds are set without exhausting the team with constant false positives.

9. Brute-Force Protection: Rate Limiting, Lockout, CAPTCHA

   Jul 12, 2025

Login forms without a well thought out brute-force defense are among the most exploited entry points in Magento stores. This article shows how rate limiting, progressive delay, account lockout, and risk-based CAPTCHA work together, without locking out legitimate customers or hurting conversion, including Magento's built-in protections and concrete configuration examples.

10. Auditing Magento Extensions for Security Risks

    Jul 8, 2025

Third party extensions inherit the same privileges as the Magento core and become the single biggest supply chain risk in a store. This article shows how to spot eval and base64 encoded payloads, check a vendor's reputation, apply static analysis with PHPStan, and test new extensions in an isolated sandbox before they go live.
