1. Integrating npm, Tailwind and Frontend Builds into GitLab Pipelines

   Dec 16, 2025

Hyva Themes brings Tailwind CSS v4 to Magento as a CSS first build. Anyone integrating this build into a GitLab pipeline needs to coordinate Node.js versions, npm caching, artifact handoff and the ordering against the PHP build cleanly. This article shows how that works in practice.

2. Running Composer Install in GitLab CI Cleanly and Reproducibly

   Dec 6, 2025

A composer install in CI that sometimes installs different packages than expected, that redownloads 200 packages on every run, or that produces different dependencies on production than on staging: these are all solvable problems. This article explains how to run composer install in GitLab CI reproducibly, quickly and correctly.

3. Automating Magento Smoke Tests After Deployment

   Dec 5, 2025

A deployment that finishes without errors is not automatically a deployment that actually works. The symlink was switched, the cache was cleared, but does the homepage load? Does checkout respond? Is the cache status green? Smoke tests close this gap and give the deployment process a functional conclusion instead of merely a technical one.

4. SSH Keys, Deploy Keys and Known Hosts for Secure Deployments

   Dec 2, 2025

Deployment keys that are scoped too broadly or stay in use for years without rotation are an underestimated risk. Ed25519 key pairs, GitLab deploy keys, correct known hosts management and safe rotation are the building blocks for auditable, revocable SSH connections in automated Magento deployments.

5. Blue/Green vs. Symlink Releases for Magento Shops

   Nov 12, 2025

Blue/Green deployments sound like the perfect zero-downtime solution. For most Magento shops, though, the infrastructure overhead is out of proportion. Symlink releases achieve the same rollback speed at a fraction of the complexity, provided they are set up correctly.

7. setup:di:compile in the Build Pipeline: Timing, Caches and Generated Code

   Oct 28, 2025

setup:di:compile is one of the most time consuming steps in the Magento build process, and one of the most frequently misplaced. Run it too early and the full Composer base is missing; run it too late and it delays the deploy. This article shows when and how di:compile should run in a GitLab pipeline.

8. Review Apps for Magento: Worth It or a Waste of Time?

   Oct 24, 2025

GitLab Review Apps promise a preview environment for every feature branch. That sounds tempting, but Magento is not a simple Node.js project. A database, media storage, Redis, Elasticsearch and a complex build process turn Review Apps into a serious infrastructure project.

9. Protected Variables, Masked Variables and Environment Scopes Explained

   Oct 23, 2025

The three checkboxes when creating a GitLab variable look harmless, but the combination you choose for each variable determines the security of the entire deployment process. Protected, Masked and Environment Scope mean three different things that get confused constantly.

10. Zero-Downtime and Database Backups: When to Back Up Before a Release

    Oct 23, 2025

A symlink rollback is not always enough. When database migrations are part of the deployment, a current DB backup must exist before the first migration step runs, not after.
