Magento 2 Glossary: explain technical terms, link them and make them visible in search
With the Magento 2 glossary from Mironsoft you build a lexicon right inside your shop. Every term gets its own page, a spot in the letter index and a short definition. When a term shows up in product descriptions, CMS pages or blog posts, the module links it automatically. The interface runs on Alpine.js in the Hyvä theme and needs no extra library.
Letter index
All terms from A to Z on one overview page, with jump links for every letter.
Own page per term
Each entry gets a URL, title, description and meta data per store view.
Auto-linking
Terms in product and CMS texts are linked at render time, no manual work.
Tooltip with short definition
Hovering shows the definition, the visitor stays on the page.
Synonyms and spellings
Per entry you can store synonyms, plural forms and abbreviations.
DefinedTerm schema
Every entry outputs structured data that helps search engines understand the term.
Why a Magento 2 glossary is more than a text page
Anyone selling products that need explanation knows the problem: the description mentions thread pitch, colour temperature or cold forming, but the customer has no idea what these mean. They leave the page or pick up the phone. Merchants therefore search for a Magento 2 glossary, a Magento 2 lexicon or a way to explain technical terms in Magento 2. Out of the box there are only free CMS pages that nobody maintains.
A structured Magento 2 glossary solves this on two levels. For visitors the explanation is one hover away. For search engines you get a network of term pages that link to each other and to your products. That strengthens internal linking and answers queries of the form what is X.
Maintaining your Magento 2 glossary: entries with short and long text
In the admin you create each term as an entry: name, short definition for the tooltip, a detailed text in the WYSIWYG editor, an optional image and the assignment to store views. Entries can be enabled, disabled and filtered by letter. The initial letter is detected automatically, including umlauts and special characters.
- Short definition and long text maintained separately
- Visibility per store view and active or inactive status
- Automatic letter assignment including umlauts
The Magento 2 glossary as a page: index from A to Z
The glossary landing page lists all terms alphabetically. A letter bar jumps to the matching section by anchor link, letters without entries are greyed out. The page is rendered on the server and works with the full page cache. Alpine.js only drives filtering by letter and an optional search box.
- Jump bar with empty letters greyed out
- Optional search field inside the glossary
- Page size per letter configurable
Automatically link technical terms in Magento 2, with tooltip
When product descriptions, category texts, CMS pages and the blog are rendered, the module replaces the first occurrence of each term with a link and tooltip. You decide which areas are covered, how often the same term may appear per page and which HTML elements are off limits, for example headings and existing links. Detection respects word boundaries so partial words are never linked.
- At most one link per term and page, adjustable
- Headings, links and forms stay untouched
- Word boundaries and synonyms are respected
Magento 2 glossary and SEO: DefinedTerm schema per entry
Each term page outputs JSON-LD of type DefinedTerm, embedded in a DefinedTermSet for the whole glossary. Canonical, hreflang per store view and breadcrumbs come on top. Term pages appear in the XML sitemap automatically. Whether Google turns this into rich results is up to the search engine, the module provides the clean foundation.
- DefinedTerm with name, description and set membership
- Canonical, hreflang and breadcrumb per entry
- Inclusion in the XML sitemap
Where a Magento 2 glossary helps in everyday shop life
Typical industries in which vocabulary slows down buying decisions.
Technical products
Machines, tools and electronics use specialist language. The glossary explains values and standards exactly where they are mentioned.
Cosmetics and food
Ingredients such as hyaluronic acid or additives with an E number are linked in the text and explained briefly, without overloading the description.
Advice-heavy ranges
Bikes, mattresses or outdoor gear come with many figures. The glossary replaces the follow-up email.
Content marketing
Term pages rank for questions like what does X mean and lead through internal links to matching products.
Magento 2 glossary: with and without the module compared

| Linking | Manual in every text | Automatic at render time, with rules |
| Explanation at the product | Visitor leaves the page | Tooltip right at the term |
| Search engines | No markup | DefinedTerm, canonical, hreflang, sitemap |
| Multiple languages | Duplicate pages | One entry per store view |
How we set up your Magento 2 glossary
The process after you order.
Alignment
We clarify which areas get links, what the glossary is called and which URL the landing page uses.
Installation
We install the module and set up the Magento 2 glossary for your store views. Afterwards we test the output in the Hyvä theme.
Initial content
If you wish, we import your existing term list from a CSV file and check synonyms and spellings.
Linking test
We test word boundaries, exceptions and tooltips on product, CMS and blog pages.
Handover
Your team gets a walkthrough of maintenance, import and the auto-linking rules.
Scope compared to blog, FAQ and CMS pages
The blog publishes time-bound articles, the FAQ answers single questions. The Magento 2 glossary instead manages terms as data with letter index, synonyms, tooltip and its own schema type. It complements the other modules and does not replace them.
Legal or technical definitions, for example about standards or ingredients, are checked by you as the shop owner. The module provides the technology, not the content.
No download, but personal setup
The Glossary Module is not listed here as a ready-made download file for self-installation. The purchase is an order for a service: we get in touch after the purchase, install the module in your shop and agree linking rules and landing page together with you.
