Magento 2 customer blacklist: keep problem customers reliably away from checkout
The Magento 2 customer blacklist from Mironsoft collects email addresses, IP addresses, shipping addresses and email domains that should not order in your shop. Every entry carries a documented reason and an optional expiry date. At checkout and registration the module compares the input with the list and rejects hits with a neutral message. Entries are maintained in the admin, and the interface runs on Alpine.js without any extra library.
Four block types
Email, IP address or range, shipping address and domain with wildcard.
Reason and expiry
Each entry gets a reason and, if you like, an expiry date.
Checkout block
Listed features never reach the order, not even as a guest.
Neutral message
The customer sees a factual notice without the block reason.
CSV import
Import existing lists and export the blacklist at any time.
Hit log
Every blocked attempt is recorded with time and entry.
Why a Magento 2 customer blacklist becomes essential for many shops
Almost every shop knows them: customers who refuse parcels, trigger chargebacks again and again or keep ordering with new accounts. Once you have documented why someone is no longer supplied, you do not want to enforce that decision by hand on every new order. Merchants therefore look for a Magento 2 customer blacklist that recognises features permanently.
Out of the box Magento cannot block such features precisely. You disable an account, yet the same customer keeps ordering as a guest or with a new address. With the Magento 2 customer blacklist you attack several features at once: a blocked domain, a blocked IP or a blocked shipping address is enough to stop checkout.
Four types in a Magento 2 customer blacklist: email, IP, address and domain
Every entry has a type. Email blocks a single address, domain blocks all addresses of a provider, for instance disposable mail services. IP blocks one address or a range in CIDR notation. Address compares street, postcode and city of the shipping address, normalised for case and common abbreviations such as St. and Street. That way it also stands out when someone reuses the same address with a new email.
- Email and domain, also with a leading wildcard
- IP address or CIDR range
- Shipping address with normalised comparison
Checkout and registration: how the Magento 2 customer blacklist takes effect
The module checks where the features originate: at registration, when the order is submitted and optionally at newsletter signup. At checkout it compares email, shipping address and the visitor IP with the list. On a hit the order is not created, the customer sees a neutral message and can contact customer service. The block reason stays internal so you do not reveal details of your checks.
- Checks at registration, order and optionally newsletter
- Neutral customer message pointing to customer service
- Block reason visible internally only
Maintain entries: grid, CSV import and direct creation
In the admin all entries sit in one grid with search and filters for type, reason and status. From a customer record or an order you create an entry with one click and the value is prefilled. Existing spreadsheet lists are imported as CSV, and the Magento 2 customer blacklist can be exported as well. A cron job deactivates expired entries automatically and keeps them for traceability.
- Grid with search and filters for type, reason and status
- Create an entry prefilled from customer or order
- CSV import and export, cron deactivates expired entries
GDPR notes on the Magento 2 customer blacklist
A blacklist processes personal data, IP addresses included. The usual basis is legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, combined with a documented balancing of interests, a mention in the privacy policy and clear deletion periods. The module supports this with a mandatory reason, an expiry date, a hit log with its own retention period and deletion by cron. Optionally it stores email addresses only as a hash. It does not replace legal review by the shop operator.
- Mandatory reason and expiry date support documentation
- Retention period for the hit log, deletion by cron
- Optionally store only hash values of email addresses
Where the Magento 2 customer blacklist helps in daily shop operation
Typical situations where disabling an account is not enough.
Repeated refused deliveries
Whoever refuses parcels again and again is blocked by shipping address and email. New accounts change nothing.
Chargeback series
After repeated chargebacks you block email and IP for a defined period.
Disposable mail services
A domain block stops registrations with short-lived addresses before accounts are created.
Protection from order spam
Conspicuous IP ranges that trigger test orders stay blocked at checkout.
Magento 2 customer blacklist: without and with the module
The difference to simply disabling accounts.

|---|---|---|
| Features | Only the customer account | Email, IP, address and domain |
| Guest orders | Still possible | Blocked at checkout |
| Documentation | Note in the customer comment | Reason, expiry and log per entry |
| Maintenance | Scattered across notes and sheets | One grid with import and export |
| Data protection | No deletion periods | Expiry date and retention period |

How this differs from fraud rules, reCAPTCHA and spam protection
The Mironsoft fraud rules module scores unknown orders. The reCAPTCHA integration and the mail spam protection keep bots out. The Magento 2 customer blacklist is instead a deliberate, documented decision about known features: whoever is listed does not get through checkout.
Both modules complement each other. Hits from the fraud rules can be added to the blacklist with one click, and the interface runs on Alpine.js in the Hyvä theme.
