Magento 2 cancellation button: ending a contract as easy as signing it
The Magento 2 cancellation button from Mironsoft gives shops with ongoing consumer contracts the cancellation button that German law (section 312k BGB) requires for continuing obligations. Customers find the button at any time, land on a confirmation page, enter the required details and trigger the cancellation with a second click. A receipt email follows immediately. The interface runs on Alpine.js in the Hyvä theme without any extra library. Legal review of the setup stays with the shop owner.
Magento 2 cancellation button within reach
The button labelled “Cancel contracts here” sits in the footer and optionally in the customer account, without detours through submenus.
Two-step flow
First the confirmation page with the details, then the “Cancel now” button: the cancellation happens in two steps.
Required details
Type of cancellation, contract name, customer name and identifier, desired end date and a reason for extraordinary cancellation.
Receipt email
Right after submitting, the customer receives a text-form email with the content, date and time of the cancellation.
Cancellation log
Every cancellation lands in the admin grid with a timestamp and status and can be exported as CSV.
No login required
Customers identify themselves with a contract number and email address, a customer account is not mandatory.
Why shops with ongoing contracts need a cancellation button
Anyone who sells consumers online contracts with continuing performance, such as memberships, maintenance plans, software licences or regular deliveries, has to make cancelling as easy as signing up. In Germany section 312k BGB has required this since 1 July 2022. Merchants therefore search for a Magento 2 cancellation button, for ways to cancel contracts online or for a “cancel contracts here” link. Magento offers none of this out of the box: no button, no confirmation page and no proof of receipt.
If the button is missing or does not meet the requirements, the consumer may terminate the contract without notice under the statute, and warning letters become a risk. The Magento 2 cancellation button implements the flow cleanly and gives you a record for every cancellation. Whether your shop is affected and how the wording must read is a question for your legal adviser.
The Magento 2 cancellation button: always visible and easy to reach
By default the button reads “Cancel contracts here” (German shops) or an equivalent wording that you maintain per store view. It appears in the footer of every page and can also be shown in the customer account and in the order confirmation. It needs no dropdown and no login. Label and target URL are configured per store view, so English and German shops each get a suitable text.
- Footer placement without submenu, visible on every page
- Label freely editable per store view
- Optional in the customer account and order confirmation
Confirmation page with required details and a “Cancel now” button
A click on the button opens the confirmation page. The customer chooses between ordinary and extraordinary cancellation, names the contract, gives their name and customer identifier, the desired end date and, for extraordinary cancellation, the reason. Only the “Cancel now” button submits the declaration. The page deliberately carries no promotions or retention offers, which keeps the process clear.
- Ordinary or extraordinary cancellation selectable
- Contract number, name, email and desired date as fields
- No extra offers on the confirmation page
Magento 2 cancellation button with a receipt in text form
As soon as the customer clicks “Cancel now”, the shop shows a confirmation and sends an email at the same time. It contains the content of the declaration as well as date and time of receipt. The customer gets proof, and you can show when the cancellation arrived. The email template is editable per store view and uses the familiar Magento email templates with your logo and sender details.
- Email with content, date and time of receipt
- Copy to your contracts team via admin setting
- Template per store view in the usual Magento editor
Cancellation log and admin overview for your team
Every cancellation is stored with a timestamp, the customer details and the mail status. The admin shows a grid with filters for date, status and contract. Your team moves the status from received to processed or closed and exports the log as CSV. You set the retention period in the configuration. The log supports internal traceability; the legal assessment stays with you.
- Grid with filters, status changes and CSV export
- Retention period in the configuration
- Notification to an internal address for each new cancellation

How this differs from the withdrawal button and subscription products
The Mironsoft withdrawal button covers the withdrawal from distance contracts within the withdrawal period, and the subscription products model recurring purchases with a payment rhythm. The Magento 2 cancellation button is the statutory cancellation button for ongoing contracts and takes care of button, confirmation page, receipt and log.
The three modules can be combined: the subscription creates the contract, the Magento 2 cancellation button ends it. Everything runs on Alpine.js in the Hyvä theme, without an additional library.
No download, personal setup instead
The cancellation button is not listed here as a ready-made download for self-installation. Buying it is a commission: we contact you after the purchase, install the module in your shop and agree on label, required fields and email texts together with you.
