6 Features

Magento 2 Address Book: sort saved addresses by type at last

The Magento 2 address book from Mironsoft extends address management in the customer account with address types. Customers save home, company and warehouse addresses separately, mark one default per type and pick the right address at checkout with a single click. The interface runs on Alpine.js in the Hyvä theme and needs no extra library. Types, limits and required fields are set in the admin per store view.

Address types

Home, company and warehouse as fixed types, extendable with your own labels in the admin.

Default per type

Each type has its own default address for billing and shipping.

Quick select

At checkout the customer switches between saved addresses with one click.

Type filter

Shipping addresses at checkout can be filtered by type, for example warehouses only.

Existing addresses

Addresses that already exist are assigned to a default type during setup.

Address limit

A cap per account keeps address lists easy to scan.

Why address types

Why a flat Magento 2 address book falls short in daily use

The standard address book knows only one default billing and one default shipping address. Anyone who orders privately and for business, or ships to several warehouses, scrolls through a long list of similar entries at checkout. Merchants therefore search for ways to extend the Magento 2 address book or add address types.

With a structured Magento 2 address book the customer sees at once which address serves which purpose. That saves clicks, prevents deliveries to the wrong place and reduces questions to your support team.

01Types

Magento 2 address book with home, company and warehouse

In the customer account the address book appears in groups. When creating or editing an address the customer picks a type from a list, and every group shows its addresses with a type badge. Company addresses can require extra fields such as company name and VAT ID, warehouse addresses a contact person for goods receipt.

  • Type selection when creating and editing
  • Required fields configurable per address type
  • Grouped display in the customer account

02Default

Default address per type in the Magento 2 address book

Instead of a single default, every type keeps its own. A customer can set the company address as default for billing and a warehouse as default for shipping. If the default address is deleted, the oldest address of the same type takes over, so checkout never starts without a preselection.

  • Own default per type for billing and shipping
  • Successor chosen when the default is deleted
  • Compatible with the Magento default address fields
03Checkout

Quick address selection in the Hyvä checkout

At checkout the module shows saved addresses as compact cards with a type badge. One click applies the address to the step, so the customer fills in no form. A filter shows only matching types per step, for example company addresses for billing. Guests still see the regular address form.

  • Address cards with type badge at checkout
  • Type filter for billing and shipping
  • Guests keep the familiar form

Control types, limits and assignment in the admin

Under Stores › Configuration › Mironsoft › Extended Address Book you enable the module per store view, define custom types, set an address limit and choose the default type for existing addresses. In the admin customer profile you see each address with its type and can correct it. The module stores only the type in addition to the address, so Magento address data stays untouched.

  • Activation and types per store view
  • Address limit and default type for legacy data
  • Type visible in the admin customer profile
Use cases

Where the Magento 2 address book helps in everyday shopping

Typical situations in which address types save time.

Home and office

A customer orders books to the office and gifts to their home. Types keep both worlds apart and checkout offers the matching address first.

Several warehouses

A retailer supplies branches or warehouse sites. Each warehouse address is named and selectable with one click, with no retyping.

B2B buyers

The buyer stores a company address for the invoice and a warehouse for delivery. Misdirected orders to head office disappear.

Gift shipping

Recurring recipients such as family or friends are stored as their own addresses and found quickly at checkout.

Scope

How the Magento 2 address book differs from other modules

The Magento 2 address book from Mironsoft organises and selects saved addresses. It does not split an order across several recipients and does not change shipping costs or payment methods. Address validation and tax logic stay with the modules responsible for them.

The extension can be combined with other Mironsoft modules and uses Alpine.js in the Hyvä theme, without an additional library.
