Magento 2 product image slideshow in the category: several images per tile
The Magento 2 product image slideshow turns the static product tile in the listing into a small gallery. Visitors swipe through product images on a smartphone, use arrows on desktop or move the mouse over the tile, all directly in the category without opening the detail page. The extension is built for Hyvä and uses only Alpine.js from the theme.
Fashion, furniture, jewellery or electronics live from the first impression. A single listing image often wastes selling points such as the back, a detail or a size comparison. At the same time a category page with many products must not get slower. That is why the module loads only the first image immediately, all others on demand, and reserves the space through a fixed aspect ratio.

On smartphones the slideshow uses native scroll-snap: swiping feels like an app and does not interfere with vertical scrolling of the list. On desktop, arrows appear when hovering a tile and small dots show the current position.

In hover mode the tile divides its width into equal invisible zones, one per image. Moving the mouse from left to right changes the image accordingly, so many views can be browsed quickly without a click.

A category page with 24 products and five images each does not load 120 images at once. Only the first image of each tile is delivered immediately; the others are requested when the visitor uses the slideshow or the tile scrolls into view.
A fixed aspect ratio reserves the space in advance so there is no layout shift (CLS). For products with a single image no arrows, dots or extra markup are rendered.
