Magento 2 pre order: sell before the goods arrive
The Magento 2 pre order extension from Mironsoft turns an empty shelf into a deliberate pre-sale. Every product can carry a delivery date, a quantity cap and its own notice texts, so customers can pre-order a product without being surprised by the lead time later. The extension is built for Hyvä, runs on Alpine.js and is set up personally in your shop by Mironsoft.
Delivery date per product
Date, calendar week or range, optionally marked as estimated.
Dedicated pre-order button
Text and colour separate from the normal buy button, per store view.
Quantity cap and time window
The pre-sale starts and ends on its own, or when the cap is reached.
Automatic switch-over
After goods receipt or the end date the product becomes a regular stock item.
Optional deposit
A percentage or fixed amount now, the balance before shipping.
Magento 2 pre order extension: one product, two states
The pre-order mode lives on the product or on a category rule and is maintained with a few fields: mode on or off, delivery date, quantity cap, start and end of the pre-sale. Once the cap is reached or the end date passes, the module switches the display on its own, either to sold out or, if stock has been booked in, to the regular buy button.
The cap counts pre-orders only and runs separately from warehouse stock. Goods-receipt planning and the pre-sale therefore never get mixed up, and you always see how many customers have already committed.
- Delivery date as an exact date or a calendar week
- The cap counts pre-orders only, not warehouse stock
- Falls back to regular sale as soon as stock is booked
Magento 2 pre order button and delivery date shown before the click
Anyone placing a pre-order should see the delivery date before the contract is concluded, not only in an email afterwards. That is why your notice text appears on the product page, in the cart, on the checkout review and in the order confirmation. The pre-order button reads "Pre-order now" or whatever your audience expects.
Texts and labels are maintained per store view, which matters for multilingual shops: the German page says "voraussichtlich KW 12", the English one "estimated calendar week 12", without touching translation code.
- Placeholders for date and quantity inside every notice
- Texts per store view, English and German kept apart
- Alpine.js rendering, no additional JavaScript
Deposit with the Magento 2 pre order in a mixed cart
Customers who order stock items together with a pre-order get either a single delivery at the latest date or an announced split shipment, depending on your store rule. A deposit can be set up optionally, as a percentage or fixed amount, with the balance due before shipping. Which payment methods qualify is agreed with your payment provider during setup.
In the admin every pre-order is flagged and filterable in the order grid. Your warehouse sees at a glance which orders wait for goods receipt and which can ship right away.
- Single or split delivery as a store-wide rule
- Deposit only for selected products or categories
- Pre-order orders flagged and filterable in the admin grid
Magento 2 pre order for new arrivals, seasonal goods and restocks
The Magento 2 pre order fits every shop that announces goods bindingly before they reach the warehouse.
New launches and manufacturer releases
A new device is announced but not yet delivered: the shop collects orders and plans purchasing around real demand.
Seasonal goods and limited editions
Garden furniture in winter, advent calendars in summer: a cap and an end date keep the pre-sale under control.
Spare parts and B2B restocks
Resellers pre-order batches that only arrive with the next container, with a fixed date and a clear split-shipment rule.
Books, media and collectibles
Release date in the notice text, a pre-order button on the product page and a combined shipment on publication day.
Magento 2 pre order: without and with the module

Scope, legal and notes on the Magento 2 pre order
Magento 2 backorders and pre-orders are not the same thing: a backorder allows purchases despite empty stock, without a date and without its own flag. A pre-order is a deliberately deliberate pre-sale with date, cap and notices. If you only want to inform customers when a sold-out product returns, you need the Back in Stock Notification from Mironsoft instead. A pure delivery-time display without its own order flow is covered by the Estimated Delivery Date module.
In German online retail the delivery time is information the customer should see before ordering. The module makes sure the date is visible at all relevant places. It does not replace the legal assessment of your specific pre-sale, especially for deposits; that stays with your legal adviser.
No download — personal setup instead
The Magento 2 pre order is not listed here as a ready-made download for self-installation. The purchase is a service commission: we install the module in your shop and agree on notice texts, the mixed-cart rule and – if you want one – the deposit model with you.
