Magento 2 partial shipments: ship available goods now and deliver the rest cleanly
With Magento 2 partial shipments from Mironsoft you send the available items of an order immediately and deliver the rest later. Customers choose at checkout whether they accept split delivery, receive a separate email with items and tracking number for every shipment and see in their account which quantity is still to come. A rule sets how shipping costs are charged for several shipments. The interface uses Alpine.js in the Hyvä theme without an additional library.
Customer choice at checkout
Accept split delivery or deliver everything together, as an option before ordering.
Email per shipment
Every shipment triggers an email with items, quantity and tracking number.
Remaining quantity in the account
The customer sees what has shipped, what follows and when.
Shipping cost rule
Charge once, charge per shipment or limit with a cap.
Partially shipped
A status of its own makes the state visible in the account and admin.
Shipment list
All shipments of an order with date and tracking at a glance.
Why Magento 2 partial shipments relieve customers and warehouse
Not every order is fully deliverable. One item arrives next week, another is available now. Without control, customers wait for the whole order or receive parcels without explanation. Merchants therefore look for Magento 2 partial shipments that involve the customer and make every shipment traceable.
Magento supports several shipments per order but for Magento 2 partial shipments it tells the customer little. The module adds the communication: the choice before ordering, the email per shipment and the remaining quantity in the account. A clear rule for shipping costs makes sure nobody pays again for every parcel unless you want that.
Split delivery or everything together: the choice with Magento 2 partial shipments
If not all items are immediately available, checkout shows a choice: split delivery, where available items ship now, or everything together, where the order waits for the last item. The choice is stored on the order and appears in the admin as a note for the warehouse. If everything is available, the question is skipped. On the product page you can show a note for partial availability that the item may be delivered later.
- Choice shown only when the order is partly available
- Choice stored on the order, note for the warehouse
- Optional note on the product page
Email per shipment: items and tracking number for every Magento 2 partial shipments parcel
When your team creates a shipment in the admin, the module sends an email with the included items, quantity and the tracking number with a link. It also states which quantities remain open and, if stored, the expected date. Templates can be adjusted per store view. The email does not replace the Magento core shipping confirmation but extends it with the remainder information and can be merged with it if you wish.
- Items, quantity and tracking number per shipment
- Open quantities and expected date in the text
- Template per store view, mergeable with the standard shipping email
Shipping costs with Magento 2 partial shipments: three rules to choose from
The shipping cost rule decides what the customer pays for several shipments. Charge once means the amount from checkout stays unchanged and follow-up shipments are free for the customer. Charge per shipment makes sense for freight goods when you really pay for every parcel. A cap limits the total to a fixed amount. The rule is displayed openly at checkout so the customer knows what happens before ordering. Price information must comply with the price indication rules; legal review is up to the shop operator.
- Charge once, per shipment or with a cap
- Rule shown transparently at checkout
- Exceptions per shipping method and customer group
Shipment list in the account and the status Partially shipped
In the customer account the order lists all shipments with date, items and tracking link. Below it the remaining quantity appears with the expected date if your team has entered one. The order status Partially shipped makes the state visible and can be filtered in the admin. Based on stock the module suggests which items a new shipment can contain and prevents the same quantity from being shipped twice. Invoicing per shipment is optional.
- Shipment list with tracking link in the account
- Remaining quantity and expected date visible
- Suggestion for the next shipment from stock

How this differs from backorder notes, status display and shipping labels
The Mironsoft backorder note shows a message for items without stock. The status display and the label modules for parcel carriers deal with showing and printing single shipments. Magento 2 partial shipments instead controls the flow across several shipments: customer choice, email per shipment, remaining quantity and shipping cost rule.
The modules can be combined, the interface uses Alpine.js in the Hyvä theme and needs no additional library.
No download — personal setup instead
Partial Shipments is not listed here as a ready-made download to install yourself. Buying means commissioning us: after your purchase we get in touch, install the module in your shop and agree split delivery rules, shipping costs and email templates with you.
