Magento 2 login as customer: the customer's view, with consent
With the Magento 2 login as customer module, support agents sign in to the shop on behalf of a customer to see cart, addresses or orders exactly as the customer does. This happens only with consent, for a limited time and with a visible banner. Every access lands in the audit log. The extension is built for Hyvä and is set up personally in your shop by Mironsoft.
Customer consent
Released permanently in the account or once via link: no consent, no access.
Time-limited session
When the configured minutes run out, the session ends automatically.
Visible banner
The storefront shows who is signed in on behalf of the customer, with an end button.
Restricted rights
Read-only, or block specific actions: password, email, payment data.
Complete audit log
Who, when, which customer, how long, for what reason and from which IP.
Customer is informed
If you wish, the customer receives a notification after every access.
Magento 2 login as customer: consent instead of silent access
Customers can permit support access permanently in their own account and revoke it at any time. Alternatively support sends a one-time release link by mail that the customer confirms with one click. Without a valid release the admin button stays disabled. The reason for signing in, such as a ticket number, is a mandatory field.
That creates a traceable basis for access: the customer knows about it, has agreed and can end it. It is the groundwork for a clean data-protection procedure that you agree with your adviser.
- Permanent release or one-time link
- Revocation any time in the customer account
- Mandatory reason for every sign-in
Magento 2 login as customer with time limit, banner and safeguards
After sign-in the shop opens in the customer's view. A banner at the top names the agent and the remaining time and offers an end button. In read-only mode cart and account can be viewed but nothing changed. Additionally you block single actions: change password, change email address, save payment methods, delete account.
The time limit is adjustable and applies per session. When it expires the agent is signed out, without touching the customer's own session.
- Time limit in minutes
- Banner with end button, compact on mobile
- Read-only mode and blocked actions
Audit log for every Magento 2 login as customer
Every sign-in is logged: agent, customer, start time, duration, IP address, reason and type of release. The log can be filtered and exported as CSV. The customer receives a notification if you wish. You set a retention period for the records, after which the module deletes them automatically.
Permissions are controlled through their own ACL role: not every admin user may sign in as a customer, and not everyone may see the log. In multi-website shops the release applies per website.
- Filter and CSV export
- Automatic deletion period for entries
- Own ACL role, multi-website capable

Scope and data protection for Magento 2 login as customer
Customer Approval and Customer Password Admin manage accounts and passwords. Login As Customer offers something different: the limited view into a customer account. The Admin Action Log records backend actions in general, whereas the audit log of this module documents customer access specifically and is meant for customer enquiries.
Access to a customer account touches personal data. Consent, purpose limitation, time limit, log and deletion period are therefore part of the function. Whether and how you justify the access under data protection law, for example in the privacy policy and the record of processing activities, is for your data protection adviser to assess; the module supplies the technical evidence.
In daily use a clear rule for the team is advisable: only agents with the support role sign in, every sign-in carries a ticket number, and the session ends as soon as the matter is settled. The banner in the storefront prevents changes from being made on behalf of the customer by accident, and read-only mode turns the access into a pure view.
For sensitive sectors such as health, finance or business-customer pricing the access can be narrowed further. You define which customer groups may be viewed at all, which account pages stay visible and whether payment data is hidden altogether. The module thus adapts to your internal policies without any programming.
The log entries also help with customer enquiries: anyone who wants to know whether somebody was in their account gets a verifiable answer with date, duration and occasion. That builds trust and shows that access is regulated rather than arbitrary. When the retention period expires the entries disappear from the log automatically and the data volume stays manageable.
Teams that use several shop websites benefit from the per-website release as well. A customer who has released support access for one store has not automatically done so for another, and the log records for which website each access took place. This keeps the permission as narrow as the customer intended, which is exactly what a consent-based procedure should achieve in practice.
Finally, the module does not change how your customers shop. Nothing is added to the checkout, no extra script slows the storefront for ordinary visitors, and the banner only appears inside an active support session. Customers who never grant access are not affected in any way, and agents who are not in a support session see the shop exactly like everybody else.
For handover to new colleagues the audit log doubles as a learning tool. Reviewing a few past sessions shows which questions are typically solved through the customer's view and which could be answered by a short self-service guide instead. Over time that lets you reduce the number of sessions, which is the best outcome for both the support team and the customer. Because every entry carries a reason, such patterns are easy to spot, and nobody has to read through free-text notes to find them. Managers can filter by reason or by agent and discuss the results in regular team reviews, which also shows whether the consent wording is understood by customers.
