Magento 2 inventory sync: keep stock figures current automatically
The Magento 2 inventory sync from Mironsoft fetches stock figures from a file or supplier feed and transfers them into the shop on a schedule. You define how items are matched, from which quantity an item counts as sold out and how much safety buffer is deducted. A plausibility limit stops runs with suspicious data, a dry run shows all changes in advance, and a log records every difference. The admin interface uses Alpine.js and needs no extra library.
Sources
File, URL or SFTP directory, as CSV or XML, also with login at the supplier.
Matching
Items are found by SKU, EAN or supplier number, columns are set by mapping.
Schedule
Each source runs on its own cron schedule, plus a manual run in the admin.
Thresholds and buffer
Below a minimum quantity the item counts as sold out, a buffer is deducted from the feed.
Several sources
Own stock and supplier stock can be combined with priority.
Safety
A plausibility limit stops suspicious runs, a dry run shows the changes in advance.
Why Magento 2 inventory sync avoids overselling and manual work
Whoever orders goods from a wholesaler or runs a warehouse system knows the problem: after a few hours the figures in the shop no longer match. The customer orders goods that are not available, or leaves the shop because an item in stock is shown as sold out. Merchants therefore look for Magento 2 inventory sync that takes over figures automatically and regularly.
A blind import carries risks. If a feed accidentally delivers an empty file, all items would suddenly drop to zero. A good sync therefore includes checks, a preview and a log that makes every change traceable. That is exactly what separates Magento 2 inventory sync from a simple import.
Magento 2 inventory sync from CSV, XML and supplier feed
The module reads files from an SFTP directory, from an address on the web or from a supplier feed that requires a login. You set format, separator and structure, and for XML the path to the item nodes. For every source you decide by which field items are found: SKU, EAN or supplier number. Rows that are not found are counted and logged without stopping the run.
- File, URL or SFTP, CSV or XML
- Matching by SKU, EAN or supplier number
- Rows not found are counted instead of ignored
Thresholds and safety buffer in Magento 2 inventory sync
Not every figure from the feed may enter the shop unchanged. You deduct a safety buffer, for example two units, and set a minimum quantity below which an item counts as sold out. For very large stocks you can cap the displayed quantity so that the shop shows ten or more instead of 4,837. If the stock comes from the supplier, the module can show a delivery-time text that differs from that of your own warehouse.
- Safety buffer and minimum quantity per source
- Cap the displayed quantity
- Own delivery-time text for supplier stock
Magento 2 inventory sync for own warehouse and supplier: sources with priority
Many shops keep goods in their own warehouse and add stock from a supplier. The module connects several sources per item: the own warehouse counts first, if it does not suffice the supplier stock is added or used as a second tier. You decide the order and whether totals are formed. For items without an entry in the feed you define what happens: leave stock unchanged, set it to zero or mark it as unavailable.
- Priority and totals across several sources
- Rule for items missing in the feed
- Own schedule and thresholds per source
Magento 2 inventory sync with dry run, plausibility limit and log
Before the first live run, the dry run shows all pending changes as a list without writing them. A plausibility limit aborts runs that would change too many items, for instance when more than 30 percent would fall to zero. For each run the log records duration, number of changes and every difference with old and new value. On abort or error your team receives an email. Log entries are deleted after an adjustable period.
- Dry run with preview of all changes
- Abort on a suspicious amount of data
- Log per item with old and new value
Where Magento 2 inventory sync is needed in daily shop work
Typical situations in which figures change all the time.
Wholesaler range
The supplier provides a stock file every day. Magento 2 inventory sync takes it over on a schedule and prevents orders for goods that are not available.
Own warehouse system
A warehouse program exports stock as a file. The shop pulls it at short intervals and stays in line with the warehouse.
Own stock plus supplier
Fast items are in house, the rest comes from the supplier. Both figures are joined with priority.
Seasonal goods in short supply
A buffer protects a few units so that parallel orders in store and shop do not collide.
Magento 2 inventory sync: without and with the module
The difference to a manual import and to a blind script.
| Topic | Without the module | With Inventory Sync |
|---|---|---|
| Currency | Manual imports, often outdated | On a schedule from file or feed |
| Overselling | Risk with scarce quantities | Buffer and minimum quantity per source |
| Error protection | An empty file sets everything to zero | Plausibility limit stops the run |
| Traceability | No trace of changes | Log with old and new value |
| Several warehouses | Add figures by hand | Sources with priority and total |

Delimitation from ERP interface, dropshipping and stock texts
The ERP interface exchanges orders, products, prices and stock with a merchandise system. The dropshipping module forwards order items to suppliers, and the stock status texts control only the display. Magento 2 inventory sync reads quantities exclusively from a file or feed and writes them into the shop in a controlled way.
All modules can be combined. The admin interface runs on Alpine.js in the Hyvä theme, without jQuery and without Knockout.
No download — personal setup instead
Inventory Sync is not listed here as a ready-made download file for self-installation. The purchase is a service commission: we get in touch after the purchase, install the module in your shop and agree on sources, thresholds and schedules together with you.
