With Magento 2 Free Gift Tiers you reward larger carts. From a certain cart value the customer receives a gift, from a higher one a better gift. A progress bar in the cart shows how much is missing for the next tier and encourages adding more. The gift is added automatically or chosen by the customer, and drops out again if the cart value falls below the threshold.

Rules for free gifts: price, stock and returns
The free item costs zero in the cart but remains a real item in the order so that stock and shipping are right. The module checks stock and availability before it adds the gift. If the cart value falls below the threshold because the customer removes items, the gift is removed automatically. The gift item does not count for quantity discounts and cannot be returned on its own if the tier lapses because of it.

Audiences, periods and reporting
With Magento 2 Free Gift Tiers each tier can be limited to customer groups, store views and periods, for example for an Advent campaign. With exclusions you take categories or products out of the calculation. In the reporting you see how often each tier was reached and how the average cart value behaves with and without the campaign.
