Magento 2 compact list view: turn your range into an order table
The Magento 2 compact list view from Mironsoft Compact List Mode turns category and search pages into a slim order table. Every row shows the product name, the price and a quantity field with a plus button; sold-out items show their stock status instead. Images and descriptions are left out, so the list stays short and easy to scan.
The extension is built for Hyvä Themes and runs on Alpine.js, so no extra JavaScript framework is loaded. It suits shops whose customers already know the item: resellers, workshops, buyers in industry and trades who would rather enter ten lines in a minute than page through tiles.
Unlike a quick order form with SKU entry, customers stay inside the normal category: filters, sorting, breadcrumbs and search work as usual. The view can be enabled per category, store view and customer group, so consumers keep seeing the tile grid.
One row per product, nothing else
The Magento 2 compact list view shows only name, price and quantity: no image tiles, no descriptions, for buyers who know what they need.
Table row instead of tile
Name, price, quantity field and add button sit in one slim row.
One or two columns
Two tables side by side on wide screens, automatically one column on phones.
Quantity with plus/minus
Starts at 1; step size and minimum come from the product stock settings.
Stock status in the row
Sold-out items show “Out of stock” instead of an input and button.
Grid/list toggle
Visitors switch between tile and table view and the choice is remembered.
Sorting and page size
Sort menu at the top right, items per page at the bottom, with your defaults.
See an entire range on a single screen
The module swaps the product tiles on category and search pages for a table. Each row holds only what an order needs. Images, short descriptions and rating stars are left out. For long lists such as screws, gaskets or spare parts, buyers see far more items without scrolling.
The Magento 2 compact list view leaves customer group prices, tier prices and minimum quantity notices exactly as Magento provides them. Whatever net or gross price display you use stays in place.
- Columns: name (linked to the product page), price, quantity
- Two columns above a configurable width, one column below
- Customer group prices and tier prices display as usual
Type a quantity or click it, without leaving the page
The quantity field respects the minimum order quantity and moves in the configured step size. One click on the plus button adds the item by Ajax and the mini cart refreshes. Products that need a required choice, such as configurable items, show a link to the options instead of the button, because a single row cannot replace a selection.
For products with tier prices the price is not recalculated live for the entered quantity; the row shows the entry price and the cart applies the tier correctly.
- Minimum quantity and step size from inventory settings
- Sold out: text instead of a field, no dead control
- Configurable and bundle products lead to the product page
Tiles or table: the visitor decides
The grid/list toggle sits at the top left, the sort menu at the right and the items-per-page choice at the bottom. A visitor’s choice is remembered in the browser, no account needed. You set per category whether the table or the tile grid shows first, so image-driven categories stay the way they are.
The Magento 2 compact list view keeps to the familiar Magento toolbar values: sort options and allowed page sizes come from the configuration, so there is no second place to maintain.
- Default view selectable per category
- Sorting and page sizes reuse the existing Magento settings
- Toggle can be hidden if only the table should apply
Lean frontend: Alpine.js instead of extra libraries
The Magento 2 compact list view builds on the existing Hyvä base. Quantity field, toggle and cart button are small Alpine components, and no libraries are loaded. Since the list shows no product images, the data volume of the category page drops noticeably.
Rows are marked up semantically as a table and work with the keyboard, which helps screen readers. A customer group change needs no restart: the view follows the group of the logged-in customer.
When the Magento 2 compact list view pays off
Spare parts and small parts
Screws, gaskets, filters: hundreds of similar items where pictures help little. The Magento 2 compact list view shows many lines per screen.
Wholesale and B2B reorders
Regular customers reorder the same items. With the Magento 2 compact list view they type quantities and add several lines to the cart in a row.
Consumables and office supplies
Toner, labels, cleaning products: comparing prices between variants is easier in a table than across tiles.
Catering and trades
Ordering on a phone between two appointments: one column, large tap targets and the stock status right in the row.
Tile grid versus Magento 2 compact list view
| Criterion | Standard tile grid | With Compact List Mode |
|---|---|---|
| Items per screen | Roughly four to twelve tiles | Considerably more rows, depending on columns |
| Choosing a quantity | Usually only on the product page | Right in the row with plus/minus |
| Stock status | Often only a badge or missing | Text instead of input when sold out |
| List load | Images for every tile | No product images in the list |
| Switching view | Not provided | Grid/list toggle, choice is remembered |
| Target audience | Consumers, inspiration | Buyers who know the item |

How it differs from related Mironsoft modules
Quick Add to Cart
Adds a quantity field to the regular product tile. The Magento 2 compact list view replaces the entire tile layout with table rows instead.
Quick Order
Captures items by SKU on a page of its own. The table works directly inside the category and search results.
Infinite Scroll
Changes how the list loads, not how it looks. The two can be combined.
No download — personal setup instead
The Magento 2 compact list view (Compact List Mode) is not offered here as a download file for self-installation. The purchase is a service commission: we install the module in your shop and set up categories, column count and default view together with you.
