Magento 2 base price: implementing the obligation cleanly
Anyone selling goods by weight, volume, length or area to consumers in Germany must in many cases state the price per unit of measurement next to the total price, such as euros per kilogram or per liter. The indication is meant to make prices comparable. Magento 2 ships no function for this, many shops resort to free-text fields that have to be adjusted by hand with every price change and quickly become outdated. The Base Price module calculates the Magento 2 base price automatically from selling price, content amount and reference amount. Per product you only maintain the package size, the module does the rest: units are converted, special prices are respected, the display appears in category list, product page, cart and checkout. In the Hyvä frontend the unit price updates live on variant selection, without an extra JavaScript library.

Calculate the Magento 2 base price: maintain package size, convert units
For the Magento 2 base price you store per product the content amount with unit (for example 250 g, 750 ml or 2.5 m) and the desired reference amount. The module converts to the reference amount and calculates the unit price from the currently valid price. When the price changes, the unit price follows without rework. For products whose sales quantity already equals the reference amount, the duplicate display is omitted.

The Magento 2 base price appears in smaller type directly under the selling price on product lists, the product page and per line in cart and checkout. For the Magento 2 base price, content amount, unit and reference amount are ordinary product attributes and can be maintained via import or mass action in the admin. The module helps you implement unit price indication but does not replace legal review: whether and in what form a unit price is required for your range, for example for prepackaged goods or loose goods and for exemptions, should be clarified with your legal counsel.

Differentiation from related Mironsoft modules
Base Price delivers only the price per reference amount. Showing the lowest price of the last 30 days for discount promotions is handled by the Omnibus Price Tracker, how amounts are written is controlled by Price Decimal Format. All three modules complement each other and can be used together.
Legal mandatory texts such as imprint and withdrawal information are not part of the module. The module supports implementing the Magento 2 base price, the legal assessment stays with you and your legal counsel.
