01Automatic account linking

Recognize existing customers, create new ones automatically

When a visitor signs in with Google, the module matches the Google email address against existing customer accounts. If there's a match, the visitor is logged in directly. If the address is new, a customer account is created automatically — no registration form, no password to set.

What happens if a customer account already exists with the same email?
The visitor is logged directly into that existing account, no duplicate account is created.
Do I need to update my privacy policy?
Yes. Sign-in transfers data to Google, which belongs in your privacy policy. We point this out during setup; it does not replace a legal review.
Do logged-in customers see the prompt too?
No, the prompt only appears for guests who aren't logged in yet.
Can I use just the button without the One Tap popup?
Yes, both modes can be enabled or disabled independently of each other.
Do I need a Google Cloud account for setup?
Yes, a free Google Cloud project is needed for the Client ID. We set this up together with you during installation.
Does this work on smartphones too?
Yes, the prompt is mobile-responsive and adapts automatically to smaller screens.
Can I download and install the module myself?
