Magento 2 Visual Merchandising: design the category like a shop window
With Magento 2 visual merchandising from Mironsoft, editors arrange the products of a category directly in the admin by drag and drop. Instead of typing position numbers into a grid, they drag tiles to the desired spot, pin bestsellers or promotional items and see how the page will look in the shop before saving. The order is stored and indexed per category and store view. The admin interface uses native browser features and brings no foreign libraries into the storefront.
Drag and drop
Products are shown as tiles with image and name and are moved to the desired position by dragging.
Pins
Pinned products keep their position, even when the sorting or sorting rules change.
Preview before saving
A preview shows the category as customers see it, optionally per store view and device width.
Bulk actions
Several products can be selected and moved to the start, the end or to a given page.
Subcategories and stores
Positions apply per category and store view and can be copied from one category to another.
History and undo
Every change is logged and the last state can be restored with one click.
Why you should not solve Magento 2 visual merchandising with position fields alone
The order of products decides what customers see and click first. Merchants therefore search for Magento 2 drag and drop product sorting, Magento 2 category product order or Magento 2 pin products. By default you edit a table grid with position numbers for this, which is hard to oversee with several hundred products.
Without a visual tool the sorting is left to chance or the default rule. Magento 2 visual merchandising gives editors a tool they understand without training: they see what customers see and design the page like a shop window.
Arrange products by drag and drop: how Magento 2 visual merchandising works
In the admin you open a category and switch to the Visual Merchandising tab. The assigned products appear as a tile grid. With the mouse or keyboard you move single tiles, and the positions of the other products shift automatically. Filters by stock status, brand or price help to keep control in large categories. Unsaved changes are marked.
- Tile grid with image, name and price
- Move by mouse or keyboard
- Filters by stock status, brand and price
Pins in Magento 2 visual merchandising: hold on to bestsellers
A pin locks the position of a product. Pinned tiles stay in place when other products move up or when an automatic sorting by novelty or price is running. That way you combine manual emphasis with a base sorting. Pins can be limited in time, for instance for a promotion week, and expire on their own afterwards.
- Pin at a fixed position, even with automatic sorting
- Time window for promotion weeks
- Pinned products marked in the grid
Preview in Magento 2 visual merchandising: check before it goes live
The preview renders the category in the layout of your Hyvä theme with the changed positions, without customers seeing any of it. You choose store view and width to compare desktop and smartphone. Only the click on publish writes the positions to the catalog and triggers indexing. Until then the live state stays unchanged.
- Preview in desktop and mobile width
- Store view selectable
- Publish only on click
Operation and permissions for Magento 2 visual merchandising in daily editing
Who may change positions is controlled through admin roles. The change log records who saved which order and when, and allows resetting to the previous state. Positions can be copied from one category to another, for example from the main category to campaign pages. New products appear at the start, the end or after the base sorting, as you prefer.
- Permissions through admin roles
- Change log with undo
- Copy positions from category to category
Where Magento 2 visual merchandising makes a difference in everyday shop work

Season start and promotions
The summer collection moves up, promotional items are pinned for a week and released automatically afterwards.
High margin first
Products with a good margin take the first places without losing the base sorting.
Staging collections
Matching items sit next to each other, outfits or sets work like a shop window in the grid.
Stock clearance
Overstock is pulled to prominent spots, sold-out items move to the end.

Scope compared to merchandising rules and sorting options
The merchandising rules from Mironsoft sort categories automatically by conditions such as stock level, margin or novelty. The extended sorting options give customers additional choices in the storefront. Magento 2 visual merchandising, by contrast, is the manual tool for editors: you set the order yourself, by drag and drop.
The modules complement each other: rules deliver the base sorting, visual merchandising adds deliberate accents on top, and customers choose their sorting in the storefront. The interface follows the conventions of your Hyvä theme.
No download, but a personal setup
Visual Merchandising is not listed here as a ready-made download for self-installation. The purchase is an order for our service: we get in touch after the purchase, install the module in your shop and train your editorial team in drag and drop and pins.
