Magento 2 Translation Status: see the gaps in a multilingual shop at once

Magento 2 Translation Status from Mironsoft shows in the admin for every product, category and CMS page whether the translation for a store view is present, missing or outdated. A column in the grid and a filter make the gaps visible, a dashboard sums them up per language. Magento 2 Translation Status translates nothing itself but shows your team where the work is. It is a pure admin tool with no intervention in the frontend.

Status in the grid

A column per store view shows the translation state in the product, category and CMS lists.

Four states

Translated, missing, outdated or identical to the original, each with a colour dot.

Required fields

You define per entity which fields must exist, such as name, description and URL key.

Spot outdated texts

If the original text changes after translation, the status switches to outdated.

Filter and counters

Gaps can be filtered, and a dashboard shows the count per language.

CSV export

The missing texts go out as CSV to translators or a translation agency.

Why a status

Why Magento 2 Translation Status becomes indispensable with several languages

A bilingual shop starts clean and drifts apart over time. New products are created in German first, the English version follows later or never. Texts are changed in the original while the translation stays old. Magento itself offers no overview for this. Anyone searching for Magento 2 find missing translations or Magento 2 check translations needs a list instead of a spot check.

Magento 2 Translation Status makes these gaps countable. Editors see at once what is missing, you see the share per language, and visitors land less often on a page with German text in the English shop.

01Grid

Magento 2 Translation Status in the grid: products, categories and CMS

In the familiar lists of products, categories and CMS pages a status column appears per store view. A green dot means translated, a red one missing, a yellow one outdated and a grey one identical to the original. The column can be sorted and filtered so you can group gaps and work through them in a targeted way.

  • Status column per store view in three lists
  • Sorting and filtering by state
  • Any number of languages, not only German and English

02Rules

Required fields and detection of outdated translations

You determine per entity which fields count: for products name, description, short description, meta title and URL key, for CMS pages title and content. If one is missing, the translation counts as incomplete. The module stores a checksum of the original text. If the original changes, the translation is marked outdated until an editor has reviewed it.

  • Required fields configurable per entity
  • Checksum of the original detects later changes
  • Report identical texts as not translated
03Dashboard

Dashboard and export: overview and handover to translators

The dashboard shows per language how many products, categories and pages are translated, missing or outdated, also as a percentage. From the filtered list you export the missing texts as CSV, including the original text and an identifier, and pass them to your translators. After supplemented texts are imported, the status updates on the next index run.

  • Counters and percentages per language and entity
  • CSV export of filtered gaps with original text
  • Status updates through index and cron

Mark as reviewed and distribute permissions in the team

Some texts stay the same on purpose, such as brand names. With the mass action Mark as reviewed you take such entries off the error list. Through the permissions you decide who sees the status, who may mark and who may export. The index is updated by cron and does not run in the frontend.

  • Mass action Mark as reviewed
  • Separate permissions for viewing, marking and export
  • Index via cron, no load in the frontend
Use cases

Where Magento 2 Translation Status helps in daily shop work

Typical situations in which Magento 2 Translation Status saves work.

Launching a new language

When another store view starts, the status shows which parts of the catalog still wait for translation.

Ongoing catalog care

New products appear in the list of missing texts straight away until the translation exists.

Working with translators

The CSV export delivers exactly the open texts and avoids duplicate work.

SEO and hreflang

Pages without a real translation should not show up as a language variant. The list shows where that threatens.

Scope

Scope compared with translation import and machine translation

A translation import or an automatic translation service delivers texts. Magento 2 Translation Status delivers not a single translation but shows where texts are missing or no longer match the original. It changes no content and does not intervene in the frontend.

The two complement each other: the status finds the gaps, an import or your translator fills them, and the next index run shows the progress. All modules can be combined.
