Magento 2 In Stock Filter: one toggle instead of frustrating results
With the In Stock Only Filter from Mironsoft your shop shows only available products when wanted. In a category or in search results, customers switch on only available and immediately see just the items they can actually order. You set the default state per category so that, for example, a section with many seasonal items shows only what is available without any action from the customer. The toggle runs on Alpine.js and fits your existing layered navigation. The Magento 2 in stock filter is easy to configure.
Toggle in the navigation
Only available appears as a filter element in the layered navigation or as a toggle above the list.
Default state per category
For each category you define whether the filter is on, off or on only for certain customer groups.
Also in search
The same logic applies to the search results page, optionally with its own default.
Shareable URL
The state is stored as a URL parameter, so links to filtered lists work.
Your own availability rule
You decide whether backorderable, pre-orderable or low-stock products count as available.
Correct product counts
Counts, pagination and the numbers of the other filters adapt to the state.
Why customers want a Magento 2 in stock filter
Nothing frustrates more than a long list in which every second item cannot be ordered. Merchants therefore search for a Magento 2 only in stock filter, for Magento 2 hide out of stock products or for a Magento 2 availability filter. By default Magento only knows the global setting to display out-of-stock products or not, and it applies to the whole shop.
Hiding everything is not always right either: search engines know the pages, returning customers look for reorderable goods, and sold-out classics create demand. The toggle gives the customer the choice, and the default per category gives you control with a Magento 2 in stock filter exactly where it makes sense.
Magento 2 In Stock Filter as a toggle in the category
The toggle appears in the sidebar or as a compact bar above the product grid, whichever suits your Hyvä theme. One click narrows the list to available products without a full page change, and the counters of the other filters are updated. On smartphones it sits in the filter dialog so it does not use space above the grid.
- Position in sidebar or above the grid
- Counters of the other filters adapt
- In the filter dialog on smartphones
Default state per category for the Magento 2 In Stock Filter
Not every category needs the same preset. For seasonal goods or discontinued models you switch the filter on in advance, for collectibles or spare parts it stays off. The rule can be inherited by subcategories and differentiated for customer groups, for example retailers who may reorder. If the filter is changed manually, the session remembers the customer decision.
- On, off or group dependent
- Inheritance to subcategories
- Customer decision kept during the session
The Magento 2 In Stock Filter in search results as well
On the search results page the filter works as in the category. You decide whether available hits are pre-selected or whether the customer sets the toggle. The module uses the existing search index; no separate search engine is introduced. After stock changes the indexer updates the availability on which the filter is based.
- Own preset for search results
- Uses the existing search index
- Updated after stock changes via the indexer
What counts as available? Rules for the Magento 2 In Stock Filter
Available does not always mean in stock. You choose whether products with allowed backorders, pre-orders or remaining quantities below a threshold count as available. Configurable products count as available as soon as one variant can be ordered, bundles as you prefer. Products you must always show are excluded from the filter through an attribute.
- Backorder, pre-order and remaining quantity adjustable
- Configurables: one orderable variant is enough
- Exceptions through a product attribute
Where a Magento 2 in stock filter helps in everyday shop work
Typical situations in which a Magento 2 in stock filter toggle convinces.
Seasonal and promotional goods
After the season only a few sizes remain. The filter keeps lists clean without you having to disable products.
Fashion and shoes
Customers only want to see sizes that are available. The toggle shows hits that can really be ordered.
Spare parts and accessories
Technicians quickly look for what ships today and switch on only available before searching.
Retailer shops
Group-dependent defaults show end customers only stock items while retailers also see reorderable goods.

Scope compared to layered navigation and stock display
The existing layered navigation filters by attributes such as brand, colour or price. The In Stock Only Filter adds availability as an additional filter and does not replace it. It works together with all filters and changes no stock data, it only changes the display.
For its Magento 2 in stock filter the module uses the stock status of your shop, whether default stock or multi-source inventory. The interface runs on Alpine.js in the Hyvä theme without an additional library.
No download, but a personal setup
In Stock Only Filter is not listed here as a ready-made download for self-installation. The purchase is an order for our service: we get in touch after the purchase, install the module in your shop and agree on default states and availability rules together with you.
