Magento 2 Admin Roles: ready-made presets instead of a checkbox marathon
With the Magento 2 Admin Roles module from Mironsoft you create user roles from presets instead of ticking hundreds of boxes in the resource tree for every new employee. Presets for support, marketing, warehouse and accounting are included; you can adapt them freely and add your own. When a preset changes, linked roles can take over the change. The module works on the standard Magento ACL and introduces no second permission system. That keeps Magento 2 Admin Roles traceable even when the team grows.
Preset library
Presets for support, marketing, warehouse and accounting are prepared and can be edited or copied.
A role in one step
When creating a role you pick the preset, enter a name and save. The resource tree is already filled in.
Roll out changes
When a preset is adjusted, linked roles take over the change after confirmation or stay deliberately unchanged.
See drift
A comparison shows which rights of a role differ from its preset, so nothing grows unnoticed.
Deny list
Critical rights such as permissions or system configuration can be forbidden for all presets.
Export and import
Presets are exported as a file and imported in another environment, for example from staging to live.
Why Magento 2 Admin Roles are easier to maintain with presets
The Magento permission system is powerful but tedious. Anyone who creates a support role picks single areas in the resource tree and easily forgets a right that later leads to a phone call. That is why people search for how to create Magento 2 user roles or how to copy a Magento 2 role. The default admin offers no presets for this.
With presets, all Magento 2 Admin Roles for the same job carry the same rights. New staff are productive sooner, and auditors see at once which role is meant for what. The principle of least privilege still applies to every grant.
Create Magento 2 Admin Roles from a preset
Under System › Permissions › Role Presets you see the library. One click on Create role makes a regular Magento role that carries all rights of the preset. If you wish, the preset is asked for directly when you create a user, so user and role are created in one go. The created role stays an ordinary role and can still be used without the module.
- Library with support, marketing, warehouse, accounting
- Create role and user in one go
- The created role is a regular Magento role
Roll out rights changes centrally for all Magento 2 Admin Roles
If support needs access to coupons from now on, you adjust the preset once. The module lists every role linked to it and shows per role which rights would be added. You confirm per role or for all. Roles that deliberately differ are detached from the preset and left untouched. Every change is logged with user and time.
- Preview of the change per linked role
- Confirm one by one or all at once
- Roles can be detached from the preset on purpose
Detect drift and block critical rights
In daily work roles change: one right added here, one more there. The drift report compares every role with its preset and marks additions and missing rights. With the deny list you define rights that must appear in no preset and in no role created from one, for example management of users and roles. That protects against privilege creep by accident.
- Drift report per role
- Deny list for rights that are never granted
- Hint in the role grid for roles that drifted
Export Magento 2 Admin Roles and move them between environments
Presets can be exported as a JSON file and imported into another installation. That way you test changes on staging first and apply them to live afterwards. During import the module compares the resource keys with the installed modules and reports entries that do not exist there instead of silently ignoring them. User data and passwords are never part of the file.
- Export and import as a JSON file
- Comparison with installed modules
- No user data in the file
Where Magento 2 Admin Roles with presets help in daily work
Typical situations in growing teams.
New employees
On the first day the support agent gets the Support preset among the Magento 2 Admin Roles and can handle orders and customers right away, nothing more and nothing less.
Seasonal warehouse staff
Temporary staff use the Warehouse preset of the Magento 2 Admin Roles. When the contract ends you disable the user and the preset stays.
Agency access
External partners receive a narrowly scoped preset without access to customer data and configuration.
Internal review
Management uses the drift report to see where Magento 2 Admin Roles deviate from the target and documents it.
Magento 2 Admin Roles: standard management versus presets
What changes when you assign rights.
| Topic | Without module | With Mironsoft Role Presets |
|---|---|---|
| New role | Tick the resource tree by hand | Pick a preset and save |
| Same job, same rights | Depends on who created the role | All roles follow one preset |
| Add a right later | Open every role one by one | Once in the preset, then roll out |
| Control | No overview of deviations | Drift report and deny list |
| Changing environments | Rebuild roles manually | Export and import as a file |

Difference to granular permissions, user management and login protection
The Mironsoft module for advanced permissions assigns rights in finer detail, for example per store view or field. Role Presets works one level above: it provides templates for the standard roles and keeps them in sync. Magento 2 Admin Roles from presets can be combined with granular rights. Login protection and two-factor authentication are different topics and are not changed by this module.
All modules can be combined. The interface uses the standard admin components, and the Hyvä storefront stays untouched.
No download, personal setup instead
Role Presets is not listed here as a ready-made download file for self-installation. The purchase is a service commission: we get in touch after the purchase, install the module in your shop and agree on presets, deny list and role layout together with you.
