Magento 2 bestseller sorting adds two options to the sort dropdown of your category and search pages that customers understand at once: Best Sellers and Trending. The ranking comes from your real order lines in the period of your choice, precomputed by cron and stored in the OpenSearch index.

A cron job aggregates order lines into its own table and writes the values to the OpenSearch index on the next index run.
