How is this different from "Who Bought This Also Bought"?
Who Bought This Also Bought analyzes real purchases, Also Viewed analyzes real page views. Since views are more frequent than purchases, Also Viewed delivers meaningful results even for smaller shops.
How is this different from "Recently Viewed Products"?
Recently Viewed Products shows a customer's own browsing history. Also Viewed shows what OTHER customers also viewed on a given product — independent of the customer's own history.
Do I need to maintain the recommendations manually?
No, that's the core point: the recommendations are generated automatically from real view data and update themselves. Manual addition is also possible, but not required.
Where can I display the recommendations?
Product page, category page, cart, and account area are built in; the module can also be used as a free-form widget anywhere else.
Can I exclude certain products from the recommendations?
Yes, exclusion rules let you permanently exclude individual products or entire categories from the display.
Does this work for a young shop yet?
Yes, even better than purchase-based recommendations: since page views already count rather than completed purchases, meaningful results appear much sooner.
Does it work with multiple languages?
Yes, the module is store-view capable and works independently in each configured store.
